Drummer Wanted!

As much as I dislike abuse of blogs in this way, I need to put this out there.

No Redemption and Thornleaf need a drummer to fill a gap left due to differences.

Will need to have own transport and kit (obviously!) and be local to the band, so Stoke-on-Trent area. Sorry, international fans šŸ™‚

You can contact me on facebook or twitter, or drop a message on the pages linked above.

If you’re not a master of the sticks, please pass this on to someone you know if you think they can fill the slot.

Thank you in advance.

Update

Well, got a fair handle on the recording thing. Even using midi orchestrations.

Some has been frustrating (what interface device? That one there? Can’t see it…), some has been a breeze, but all of it has been worthwhile.

Still, have to admit that my voice has given up for today, at least. However, there are still some hours to make noise in.

More to come soon and maybe even a preview of one or two of them.

Musical Motivation

As you may have noticed if you have eyes, the name of this blog contains the word ‘music’. And regular visitors will know I tend to do a bit of this making notes and words thing.

It may have been a bit quiet on this front and I apologise profusely. However, I have sat today and gone through a number of recordings on my phone and realised the potential for some of my best work ever.

I hope to do some kind of video performance for some of them to let you know what is in my head and heart and upload when I can.

Although, gotten quite worried about three of them. One reminds me of Goblin, the Italian prog band best known for Dario Argento film soundtracks and is my first real instrumental piece.

Then we have my homage to Canadian Devin Townsend (facebook / twitter), involving strange lyrics, vocal weirdness and some bizarre riffs. Purely unintentional, but I had been listening to Deconstruction a lot at the time of writing.

And then ‘Waters’, my 70’s folk moment. I never expected this to happen, but itĀ fulfillsĀ some strange creature in my soul and thus I’m happy. Also, managing to really use the lower end of my range to full effect before opening up as it goes on. I think this is my proudest achievement since this one.

More news to come, so stay tuned.

Ghostly Goings On at The Vic

I’ve heard the stories, seen pictures and even videos like the one below. Nothing prepares someone for a real life experience of a haunting, however.

Those who know me may be aware of my own ‘house guest’, but he seems more Casper than creepy.

Let me start with this video, shot during some background scene filming for The Hollow:

This is after tales of vigils with strange sounds not unlike a grunting, clothing being moved, cold, and a general feeling of spookiness.

Scroll forward to last week, where No Redemption were rehearsing and some friends who were visiting for Hallowe’en were listening. They managed to capture some footage of a boy dancing, possibly the same one as above, and stills of other possible spectres.

So, this evening upped the game. Around 8:40 p.m., the temperature really dropped and the grunt was heard following James Earnshaw around. As well as the general temperature, ‘cold spots’ appeared and even moved with the band.

James had an idea to record the sound, given that the equipment was there. This was a massive success and we located a subsonic noise that had us all baffled as to the cause. Whilst analysing the recordings, we decided to fill the room with the smoke machine and could see disturbances caused that seemed as though an entity of some sort had moved through it. I want to make it clear that there were no natural draughts and the smoke moved as though forced in a particular way.

A general sense of unease remained and I’ve protected my home tonight before writing this.

The Victoria Hotel in Stoke has a history of strange events and this is another one to add to the list. Hoping to do another vigil there for further evidence, but why not pop down yourself and see what you think firsthand?

Oooh…

Go back to where it all began with Paranormal Activity 3.

Trailer below; let us know what you think in the comments!

[Orange / Machinima]

edit: realised that I put ‘haunting’ instead of ‘activity’… must have been thinking of this. Also changed source of video as was not embedding nicely šŸ˜¦
